Introduction:
From development to completion, the process of making a film can be an extremely daunting task. That’s why it’s important to break it down into baby steps. Don’t worry about casting until you have a solid script. Don’t worry about budgeting until you have a script breakdown. Don’t don’t worry about financing until you have a budget. But every baby step has their own set of challenges, especially if you’re new to it. Whether you’re struck on a draft of a script or trying to navigate distribution, signing up for a short-term mentorship can help provide guidance while helping save time and alleviate stress.
Why I created this course:
As a graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s Film Program, I was shocked by how ill-prepared I was for the real world of filmmaking once I finished the 4-year program. Over the last 15 years I’ve worked both in the system and independently, learning how to produce films by doing it on my own. Not everybody has the time or finances to commit to post-secondary program. Also, not everybody needs help with every stage of the filmmaking process. This mentorship is designed to help you with whatever stage you’re at in the development of your project.
